Answer #1

Taking a sociological perspective has indeed changed the way I perceive sexuality and gender. I now understand these concepts as social constructs that emerge from interactions and shared meanings among members of our society. I believed that gender and sexuality were purely innate characteristics determined by one’s heredity and genes. Another insight I was able to gather was that these concepts cannot be strictly defined. For example, gender is not binary and what constitutes typically masculine or feminine traits tends to vary across societies.
