Adoloscence is a transition period in which lot of physical and emotional changes takes place. These behavioural changes can sometimes be unacceptable to others. These include rejection towards family members, deliquent behaviours, school dropouts or refusal to attent school , eating disorders which occurs as a result of attitude towars body image, substance abuse, frequent mood changes ,deviations from normal sexual behaviours etc

Following are some warning signs that teachers should be aware of in a student who demonstrates violent behaviour

• frequent fight with peers
• anger which is out of control
• isolated behaviours such as withdrawal from social activities
• rejection
• engaging in self injurious activities
• use of dangerous weapon

using the following strategies a student’s violent behavior can be deescalated

• Communicate in simple and straight forward manner
• Engage in private conversation with the student instead of talking in public
• Exibit an accepting body language and a non judgemental attitude
• Give enough personal space for students
• Find out students needs and emotional feelings
