The police selection processes referred to as “screening in” is the process by which; the agency is looking for people who match a profile of what a good police officer should look like. While "weeding out" is basically the process by which; investigators approach each application looking for ground to disqualify the person from further consideration. The advantages of “screening in” is that we get the most suitable candidate and the advantage of "weeding out" is that those candidates that are not fit are removed. The disadvantages of "weeding out" and "screening in" is the fact that at times candidates may not perform well due to some factors such as unfavorable circumstances and they are screened out despite being very deserving.
