The different stages of the evolution of the typical Greek city-state are:

Neolithic stage- this stage is basically associated with farming, livestock, and use of stone tools.

Cycladic stage- in this stage the houses were built, fishing and agriculture flourished.

Minoan civilization- new ideas and skills like poetry making, and development in architecture flourished.

Mycenaean civilization- increase in trade, and commerce developed. people were also engaged in sailing and wars at the sea.

Geometric period

Classical period- import and export of raw materials was initiated. slavery also saw its emergence with an increase in trade and commerce.

Hellenistic period- a new form of culture emerged as the result of the death of Alexander. people collaborated with each other. thinkers like Aristotle also belong to this period.

Roman period- the one-man rule was prominent in these times.
