Cultural psychology studies the role that culture plays in shaping psychological processes. The goal of cultural psychology is to gather as much information about various cultures and their role in shaping behavior in order to correct the predominantly westernized psychological theories to make them more relevant predictors of behavior patterns that are applicable to all cultures.

Theory-testing may be used to find causation between cultural beliefs and traditions and behavior and how these fit into existing psychological theories.
