Neurons are the nerve cells of the nervous system that help in communication and integration.

Its different components and their functions are :

1. Dendrites : dendrites are present in numerous number in a neuron. They help in the integration of all the information they receive . They combine all the signals that they receive from their synapses.

2. Axons : There is one axon in a neuron. It carries the information from the senses to CNS. , from one part of CNS to the other , in between the muscles , glands etc.

3. Cell body / soma : there is a cell body also called as soma . It functions to carry out the basic life processes of the neuron.

4. Axon terminals : The axon terminals make actual connection with the other neurons. So they are responsible to transfer the information from one neuron to the other.
