The strengths and weaknesses of Victimization Studies include;

They provide estimates of the total amount of annual crimes, not only those reported to police. They help us in understanding why crimes committed, not reported and the influences on the criminal event (whether police will ever know it occurred)

Weaknesses: Over-reporting due to victims' misinterpretation of events. For example; a lost wallet may be reported as stolen
There may be underreporting due to the embarrassment of reporting a crime to interviewers, fear of getting in trouble or forgetting an incident.
