Which sociological theory do you think better explains how societies operate - structural functionalism or conflict theory? Why?
The sociological theory that better explains how societies operate is the structural functionalism theory as this theory attempts to explain the reasons behind why the society functions the way it does; by studying the relationships between the various social institutions making up society, such as the government, the laws, education, religion, etc. However, conflict theory is the macro level analysis of society explaining the power differentials, such as class conflict, thus it does not explain the operation of the society.
