One example is the royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton, which was covered extensively by media channels across the world, including parts of the world that had no link to the British monarchy. Upon introspection, it is important to ask why the wedding of two individuals, was important enough to justify worldwide media attention over other serious and critical issues that were taking place elsewhere.
