What parenting and discipline style did your parent(s) or caregiver(s) use with you? How has this impacted your life? After reading the research, would you choose the same or a different method to raise your children?

My parents used the Authoritative parenting style. They were very loving and affectionate and encouraging of all my interests. They did have rules in place and breaking those rules meant dealing with the consequences. Whether it was a time-out or revoking TV privileges, punishments were always enforced. There was never any excessive pressure to excel. They had expectations that they did not force on me, I happened to want to excel. To date, I still have a positive relationship with both my parents. I think their parenting style resulted in healthy, well-adjusted adults. I would definitely follow the same parenting style.
