How does culture and media influence, support, encourage male violence? Give an example
Our culture is predominantly male dominating and it is taught from the beginning that girls have to be obedient to their male counterparts - father, husband, brother. So, if they don't oblige, male resort to violence, as if its their right and females are their property. This is validated by the media. It portrays, handsome looking guys to indulge in violence and the female counterparts, patiently tolerates it, without telling to anybody. She still love him and thinks good of him. Love is shown in such a way and the audience thinks this is acceptable and this is how they should be, setting a wrong example. Men are shown to be powerful, and not be emotional, so whenever something goes wrong, they want to show their power through violence. When the protagonists play such a role, viewers want to become like them. Example of such movies are Enough, Break up and Fear.
