Give some reasons why the project of physiological grounding might lead to egoistic ethics
The thesis of psychological grounding says that we are intrinsically motivated by what we perceive to be in our self-interest. For instance, John meets with an accident on the road and Judy happened to be on the spot at that time and takes John to the hospital and saves him. According to the theory of psychological grounding Judy saves John not because she wanted to be altruistic but she wanted to be a hero in front of everyone. The theory of ethical egoism also believes that the promotion of one's own good is in accordance with morality. Thus, we can see that the project of psychological grounding might lead to egoistic views.
