Licensing and accreditation are essential when determining the quality of the services that an individual or a facility offers. Apart from the obvious ethics associated with these requirements, there also arises the credibility of the individuals involved in the treatment process.

As treatment providers, the client's recovery largely depends on the skills of the therapist. Individuals choose their therapist based on these aspects because it assures them that the treatment provided will be of the highest standards.

For the counselor, a license and accreditation mean that are legally and professionally qualified to provide treatment. Thereby decreasing, if not completely eliminating the margin for error.

For a service provider, it brings a sense of reliability.
Moreover, things such as accreditation are carried out on a continuous basis. Which means the adherence to quality standards have to be maintained as per the requirements of the council.
