I do believe that affirmative action is perhaps the best method to reduce hiring bias based on race. Even though individuals who make hiring decisions may not hold prejudiced and discriminatory racial attitudes, there exists a high probability of implicit racial bias that operate unconsciously. Such conscious beliefs are likely to influence hiring decisions in a subtle fashion, even if they are not intended. Therefore affirmative action is perhaps the best means by which we can overcome these challenges and make fair decisions when it comes to hiring.
