What concept/proposition of Beccaria’s reforms do you find least practical? What do you find most practical? Be specific for both
The retributive approach is the one that cannot be practical. In this reform he says that punishment requires to be equal to the committed harm. This could either be elite rally by punishment or figuratively bu compensation. Why this cannot be implemented is, if a person is raping a woman, he cannot be raped back to punish. Neither, can there be an exact amount decided for such a crime. Hence, this cannot be practical. The least practical is the retributive approach.
The most practical approach is the utilitarian approach. The utlititarian approach states that any punishment that should be given , has to be such that there should be happiness on the greater scale. Any punish, net given should be such that it should be for the greater public good. For example, if a murders is punished, that would save many other lives, thus the greater good of the society.
