2) What is Malcolm X's MAJOR CLAIM/ARGUMENT in "The Ballot or the Bullet." Put this claim into your own words.
3) Identify two (2) strategies that Malcolm X uses to persuade his audience in "The Ballot or the Bullet." For each strategy, do the following:
First, type out the passage and cite the page number.
Identify the rhetorical strategy and explain WHAT this appeals to (i.e. narration of emotional events develops pathos...citations from experts or authorities develops logos...conceding to the opposition establishes ethos )
Describe WHY this strategy was used -- what purpose does it accomplish here?
Explain HOW this strategy helps Malcolm X to develop and support his argument?
4) Evaluate Malcolm X's argument. Based on your analysis of his speech, do you feel like he makes a compelling argument? Explain.
Malcolm X's speech "The Ballot or of bullet" is for the African Americans and encourages them to stand up for their rights and vote. He also says that, if it doesn't work, they may have to resort for violence too.
He unites the people by motivating them and making them forget their in-differences. He refuses to acknowledge Government and believes that they should know their own rights. He refuses cooperation which is a must for successful negotiation. He seems to feel that of the ballot fails, then violence would be the alternate option.
