1) Discuss what you think happens when someone loses some sensory capacity (for example, sight). Do the brain's other sensory systems become more acute? If so, what could be the possible mechanisms?
1.
When someone loses some sensory capacity such as, for example, sight, the brain's other sensory systems become acuter as according to a study, published in The Journal of Neuroscience, it was reported that people; who are born deaf use areas of the brain that are typically devoted to processing sound, to process touch and vision instead. Thus when one sense is lost, the areas of the brain that are normally devoted to handling that sensory information get rewired and are made to process other senses instead of going unused, (Bates, 2012)
