List three sytereotyped gender-role assumptions in the area of se-xuality and give specific examples regarding how these assumptions may impact sexual attitudes and behavior in men and women.

Gender role assumptions:

1. Women are frail and emotional: due to this assumption, more than often it has been seen that the important decisions of the family has always been a man. The “head” of the family is always seen to be a man, and in very very few cases, women are seen as family heads.

2. A man is a man if he has had more Number Of partners: a man’s masculinity is assumed to be in his ability to make se-xual relationships with more number of women. The greater the number of women he has, the bigger the man he is. As a result, men are praised if he has made out with more number of women, whereas, women are assumed to stay more inside the doors and if she has more number of partners, she is named in various forms.

3. The idea that males are the lead: this has formed a norm where only males are supposed to approach and if a woman doesn’t, she is considered someone of a flexible character. As a result, males should only initiate a se-xual conversation and he stays on top, taking in charge. Moreover, they might not even use con-doms to relate more with a sense of their superiority.
