Epicurus argues that the best and happiest way of life is one in which one seeks to satisfy on the most basic, natural and necessary desires. Do you agree that embracing such a life of simplicity (no honor, fame, luxury or wealth) is really more conducive to happiness and tranquility than trying to “keep up with the Joneses”? If you said “yes,” then are you already taking measures to live in the Epicurean manner?

Answer #1

Yes I agree to Epicurus that embracing a life of simplicity is more conducive to happiness and tranquility. I agree to it because in my opinion with simplicity one can have more time for oneself and their loved ones, but with more fame and luxury comes more power and responsibilities which comes at a cost of giving more time ,taking more stress, giving up on your health and friends n family.

Measures that I am already taking to live in epicurean way is I have the courage to give up luxury, wealth, fame and lead a simple life making more friends, spending time with them feeling loved unconditional by your friends.

By spending more time with your family and loved ones and making meaningful relationships that can make you happy.

Spending time on one's own self by investing time in workout ,healthy living, meditation, reading , gardening harnessing a good hobby .

Using your talent and all that you have learned to help treat people,I am proud to be a doctor and I am using that to treat people (patients) and that brings me immense satisfaction and happiness.
