What is a self-fulfilling prophecy and how is it affected by the class of families?

Self fulfilling prophecy refers to the prediction we make out of fear or expectations, for the outcome or result , at the beginning of something which affects our behavior in such a way that we make the prediction happen.

People beongng to different classes are often perceived differently in most settings, be it jobs, schools, public places.When we know that a person belongs to a lower socioeconomic status, they are expected to not do as well as the students from better backgrounds.These students may not be well versed with proper language, have proper school uniform or books, not have a conducive study atmosphere at home.These lacks get further aggravated as these students would score low, get negative remarks from teachers and be left out of groups by their classmates.They would not be expected to take part in extra research or study groups due to their grades,making them lack behind.This would again fulfill the initial expectation of poor performance from them making it a self fulfilling prophecy.
