"Captain America in a Turban" is a campaign against hate crimes by Vishavjit Singh, an American who is Sikh by faith. He dons himself in costume of superhero Captain America, with a twist that this Captain America has a Turban. The Sikhs were targets of hate crime in their own homeland, India, during 1984, and in America after 9/11 incident in Milwaukee during 3002. In the following years many people fell prey to hate crimes due to their turbans, or the turbans that made them different from the rest, and because of the stereotyping that all who wears turbans as terrorists. The aim of this Captain America with Turban is to create awareness among people that all who wears turbans are not terrorist, but are human beings, and that people should not be judged by their color, faith, costume or race, and most importantly to prevent hate crimes and promote peace.

  • They are a minority community, who believe in innate equality of all and are hardworking.
  • They strive for peace and prosperity, and art of compassion as the a part of their spiritual practice.
  • The men of sikh community keep long hairs and wear turbans, also, they are bearded.
