The discussion for authorship credit should commence right when the research is being planned. One should have a clear vision of the publication that they are aiming for, such as if it would be a conference paper, poster presentation, or journal article. In this regard, the views of all team members should be taken into consideration and a written record of their contributions to be project should be made. With a broad foundation established, one should then finalise authorship before the article is being written and decide exactly what role each individual is expected to play. With open communication and clear expectations, it is less likely that difficulties in this context will arise.
