Answer #1

Nature assumption of crime assumes that criminal behavior of an individual is due to the biological make-up or free will of the individual. That the genetic make-up of individuals or the choice of individual to commit crime for pleasure,so the nature assumption of crime demands stricter social policies to reduce crime. Three types of social policies according to nature assumption would be;

  • Social policy that aims in the deterrence of crime : The aim of social policies would be instill fear in the minds of people for the consequences of crime,hence, more stricter policies to reduce crime.
  • Social policies that seek harshness of punishment according to the degree of severity of crime. To reduce crime there would be more harsher punishment for severe crimes,so that people are discouraged from committing crimes, as death penalty and life long imprisonment
  • Social policies that favor stricter and harsher police system,that is hard on criminals and criminal behavior.
