The fifth amendment holds importance because it would protect the citizens such that their rights will not be abused. According to the fifth amendment, the life or property of an individual cannot be taken away unless there are due processes that are done by law. In conclusion, the government will not be able to punish a person just when they would want to. Hence, when a person is already punished for a crime, there is no point in punishing the person for the same crime for the second time. As a result, it will be harder for the government for convicting the citizens for a crime, thus protecting from arbitrary action of the government.
