What was it about the Stamp Act specifically and the way the colonists responded to it that paved the way for the American Revolution? What was so empowering about those events?
The Stamp Act of 1765 made the colonists pay for a stamp on
printed material such as newspapers, playing cards, dice, and
various legal documents. This led to unrest in all the classes of
people.
Set a precedent for other acts and taxes. As a reaction: Colonists
organized themselves into a group of resistance, called the Sons of
Liberty under the leadership of Samuel Adams. They used the slogan;
No Taxation without Representation in the protests. This secret
society protested the British policy and they organized a boycott
of British goods. This paved the way for American Revolution as
people demanded representation, hence empowerment of the
masses.
