Summarize the below passage in your own words.

Can one fancy the state of rage and picture no ebullition of it in the chest, no flushing of the face, no dilatation of the nostrils, no clenching of the teeth, no impulse to vigorous action, but in their stead limp muscles, calm breathing, and a placid face? The present writer, for one, certainly cannot. The rage is as completely evaporated as the sensation of its so-called manifestations, and the only thing that can possibly be supposed to take its place is some cold-blooded and dispassionate judicial sentence, confined entirely to the intellectual realm, to the effect that a certain person or persons merit chastisement for their sins.

Answer #1

the passage mentioned talks about how rage, as an emotion, has its own manifestations. For a person who has normal emotions, would be having thee manifestations in the form of dialation of nostrils, flushing of the face, clenching of the teet, vigorous actions and ebullition of this in the chest. If a person is cold blooded, he would not experience any of these emotions and would rather be breathing calm, with limping muscles along with a placid face. For the present writer, who is a person making judicial sentences, there are no emotions being displayed on his face, rage being the farthest of all. All that is displayed is a calm on the face and decisions being confined only upto the intellect and objectivity, where people would be punished based only on the seriousness of the sins they have performed without any emotions being involved in them.
