Answer #1

One of the most important factors in keeping the families informed and building trust is to communicate effectively through using different means of communication channels. The most important among them is face-to-face communication. This involves emotions, empathetic listening, proper use of verbal and non-verbal cues such eye contact, posture, proximity, tone etc. Face-to-face discussions help both the sides to understand each other this working towards a possible outcome. Telephonic conversations are good only when it carries some information because discussing issues needs a more personal touch. Using technology such as social networking media, e-mail etc. would help in disseminating the information and group discussions online without the need for physical presence. Newsletters are great messengers that keep the families informed about the events that are organised and the opportunities available. All the above said are materialistic means to communicate effectively with the families and apart from them, few psychological factors such as open-mindedness, positive and solution oriented approach, motivating personality, emotional intelligence etc. would also help.
