The possible longitudinal consequences for having a stay-at-home father; are a family that is too stressed economically; as according to researchers; dads who leave work for even a short period of time to cater to domestic matters earn lower evaluations and more negative performance ratings at work as compared to women who opted out. Researchers at Hope College and Cornell University found that “two wages are often required for adequately providing for the needs of most families, dual-earner couples are less economically vulnerable. A layoff can mean a financial collapse to the single-earner families, but not for dual-earner families (Bradbury, 2014).
