The four types of discrimination include;

Direct discrimination is the unfair treatment by someone simply because of who we are. This type of discrimination is against the Equality Act 2010.

Indirect discrimination includes; a practice, policy or rule which applies to everyone in the same way, but it has a negative effect on some people than others as it puts the person at a particular disadvantage according to the Equality Act.

The pregnancy and maternity discrimination includes; unfair treatment because someone is pregnant, breastfeeding or because you’ve recently given birth.

Sexual harassment if the behavior is either meant to or has the effect of:

  • violating our dignity, or
  • creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment

Sexual harassment is a form of unlawful discrimination under the Equality Act 2010.
