Answer #1

The correct answer is d.

Explanation : David Hume was a Scottish philosopher known for his philosophical naturalistic, skeptical, empiricist works. Principles of association of ideas is a theory by hume which states that three basic principles are followed by which association and connection of ideas take place. These are resemblance, contiguity and cause-effect . While principle of resemblance states that ideas that are similar are drawn together, contiguity principle states that ideas that have been generated in the same place and time are clubbed together by the time. If one idea or event leads to another mind makes a cause and effect reaction between them. This is the cause and effect principle. Therefore the correct answer is d.
