1. Substance abuse - parents who are highly dependent upon some kind of substance may maltreat their children under influence of substance

2. Negative past history - parents who have bad past history may treat their child badly .

3. Authoritative - if parents are authoritative they will be very strict with the child and incase the child misbehaves they may start violence.

4. Too much stress - when parents face too much stress and fail to fulfill demands of parenthood they may start child abuse.

5. Lack of maturity - immaturity of parents may result in child abuse

6. Other mental disorders - a parent with some mental disorder may be abusing child in some or the other way.
