how is race and gender influenced by culture?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Culture has an enormous impact on gender and race. We are constantly receiving cultural messages each week concerning gender and racial stereotypes from our family, peers, advertisements, news, movies, music, and magazines. Our perception of these constructs is shaped by the constant bombardment of this information, either consciously or subconsciously. We then evaluate the information we receive to try and understand how the information applies to everyday life and how they should then operate. While many people and organizations challenge these traditional gender roles, the influence of mainstream culture remains evident in perceptions of gender and race.
