Where B.F. Skinners theories more scientific based or based on behaviorism ?
Skinner is said to be one of the most prominent behaviorists. He gave theories and models of learning which were largely based on the stimulus and response. He said that the relationship or association between stimulus and response leads to human behavior. He also proposed and in fact, it is well reseached that human behavior is learned. Learning is defined as any permanent change in behavior. He proposed that behavior is something which is observable and therefore, must be the focus of study. Skinner'a behaviorism was opposed to psychoanalysis. The major focus of psychoanalysis was on unconscious deisres and motives. Skinner said that unconscious cannot determine one's behavior. Unconscious is something which is not observable, or that can be directly studied, therefore, it must be detested as influencing human behavior. Behavior is overt and directly observable, therefore, he fiercly propogated that behavior is learned because an individual creates associations between stimulus and response. In a nutshell, it may be said that behaviorism is more scientific in nature.
