Decisions about life and death include healthcare professionals being aware of the legal laws in the state and also include various medical treatments like artificial ventilation, antibiotics, dialysis, chemotherapy etc. Decisions about life and death may have an emotional impact and emotions may play a role in the decision making process. Surrogate may sometimes need to take very difficult decisions. Sometimes the decision taken by the surrogates for the patients may be very confusing or they may start to rethink their decisions or make them confused and they may not take a proper decision. during this time the healthcare professions can lessen the burden of the surrogate by giving them proper and accurate information that will help them to make the right decision. The surrogates and the healthcare professionals need to take decisions which are more appropriate for the patients and also keep in the values and decisions of the patient.
