Argue that genetic enhancement is morally objectionable.
Human beings in their original gene make-up would serve their life purpose well. If we go for modifying the genes and making super humans, it would make life worse as they would cause more problems than being helpful. This could be applied to people who would have some genetic problems that would prevent them from functioning normally on the society. Children that are born with genetic disorders would face a tough time in life, so identifying the issues and solving them wouldn’t only help them lead a happy life but also would help the society reduce the burden of looking after them. If the enhancement is for normal people, then it is definitely morally objectionable because it would create more gap between the rich and poor. Only those who can afford would go for the enhancement for their children which would widen the gap between different people in the society. Utilitarian Ethics suggests that an act would be considered ethical if it increases utility or maximizes benefits to maximum people and reduce any harm. Genetic enhancement wouldn’t only decrease the benefit to maximum people but it would also harm many people.
