Oedipal complex and parent offspring conflict has been correlated. According to the Freudian theory, Oedipus complex is the primary source of conflicts thst occurs between parents of the same se-x and children. The child is in conflict with the the father, since, in the ages 2-5, the child would begin to develop a sort of se-xual attraction for the mother and since the father would actually have a se-xual access to the mother, he would begin to have a conflict with the father. Secondly, the unconscious desire of the son to kill the father, since, eventually the father and son become competitors for the child’s mother. This is hypothesised.
