Using Rationalism, Behaviorism/Social Learning Theory or Humanism (or a combination of any of these), explain Medea’s behavior. Knowing society’s expectations of her, what drove Medea to violate these expectations?
Please, I need answer for this question today
A mythological character (the princess of Colchins), Medea is a perfect amalgamation of extreme emotion and behavior. On one hand, she sacrificed all for her love and committed some absolutely unspeakable acts on behalf of her love. But when Jason betrays her, the same love and care are completely transformed in to revenge and anger. Medea’s intemperate and violent heart was earlier devoted to the extremes of emotions. However, it turned out to become destructive and worked towards inflicting pain and only pain on him. She symbolizes passion carried far away in a woman who is perversely set to choose fury over emotion and mercy. The play continues to enjoy popularity mainly because of the seductive appeal of revenge that this play portrays. She is a perfect mixture of excitement and horror as well a feminism by all means.
