Should the government regulate what is broadcast on television or should regulation be a responsibility of each individual consumer? For example, should the government state that nudity is inappropriate during Prime Time and therefore restrict it or should individuals say to themselves: “If I don’t like what’s on, or I don’t think my children should be watching something, it is my responsibility to turn off the television?”
Television has been revolutionising the world with its variety of programs. From sports to soaps, everything is available in television. Everyone is watching television, including kids.
Although government as the regulatory body should intervene to make sure the programs that are telecasted are sensors, we should also accept the fact that individuals have the responsibility of choosing what to watch.
In my point of view, individuals have more responsibility than the government because people have different needs and tastes and the government cannot intervene in individual's freedom. On the other hand individuals can set their preferences for them and their family including nudity.
So, it's the individual's responsibility to turn on or turn off the Television and it's the individual's responsibility to buy a television program or not.
