Before answering complex questions about music, it is important to determine the mood of the composition. For instance, the “Jaws” theme is ‘titillating’. Once you have determined the mood, it becomes easy to tag the rhythm, tone colour, melody and tempo.
(Answer) Rhythm: Alternating
Tone Colour: (Timbre) High frequency at some parts and harsh when progressive. At the times of lower frequency, it seems warmer.
Melody: Tala (Taal). It is a musical meter in Indian classical music that is represented as a clap.
Tempo: Crescendo for the most part. That is it gradually increases in tempo.
In a basic Indian Raga, the basic job of an instrument is to change the mood of a composition. If one considers a choir or the proms (promenade) the string instruments usually make a very fluid composition (unless it is a staccato or the music has breaks). But in an Indian composition, the percussion instruments attempt to make one excitable while the string instrument makes the listener feel calm. Therefore, the purpose of the instruments in the raga and their fluctuation in usage attempts to take the listener through a cavalcade of moods and emotions.
