Answer #1

The effective measure for reducing teen pregnancy and child birth are:

  • Imparting right sex education to both boys and girls. Making them aware of the possible body changes and making them understand what actually is the process of reproduction in more biological terms.
  • Promoting abstinence among the teenagers and helping them to set goals for their life in mutual effort by the school, parents and community.
  • Making both boys and girls of teenage aware of the harsh realities of pregnancy and child bearing at a tender age. The possible adverse effect on the mother and the new born, the economic difficulty, the emotional trauma and the physical weakness of both mother and child that these pregnancies bear should be made understood.
  • Imparting awareness of contraceptive methods and availability of these measures to the teens.
