Answer #1

The four goals of psychology are to describe, explain, predict and change behavior. The four goals in relation to behavior are described as follows.

The foremost goal of psychology is to describe the behavior of the individual. By describing, the researchers tend to gain a better perspective of the subject, and that behavior can be then labeled as normal or abnormal.

Psychology also is involved in explaining the behavior of the individual. Researchers come up with an explanation as to why a certain behavior is being performed.

The third one is to predict the behavior. Once the psychologist is able to describe and explain the behavior of the individual, it becomes possible for the researcher to predict the behavior. Being able to predict the behavior will enable the person to realize the underlying causes of one's actions.

Lastly, Psychologists tries to alter or change the behavior which can be harmful to an individual. The make sure that the change is lasting for the person and that such erroneous behavior is eradicated.
