Answer #1

Sigmund Freud Proposed 5 stages of Psychosexual development in individuals

1 Oral phase(0-1 years)

2 Anal phase(1-3 years)

3 Phallic stage (3-6 years)

4 Latent stage ( 6-puberty)

5 Genital stage ( puberty onwards)

Oedipus complex is part of the phallic stage of Psychosexual development and is named after A Greek mythological story where a young man named Oedipous develops sexual feelings for his mother and kills his father to marry her . But later he suffers because of this.

So in this case the boy suffers because he developed sexual feelings towards his mother and a conflict arose out of his natural development.

Similarly in Adam and eves case, they were not allowed to eat the fruit from the tree,it was forbidden( mother in oedipus case) but because of psychic and physical maturation there is a crisis in their life ( eating the apple from tree and getting banished from garden of eden)
