What Singer means by saying that all animals are equal is that all living beings whether humans or non humans are equal.There should be no distinction between humans and animals, because animals have no voice of their own and lacks rational thinking it doesn't means they should be illtreated. According to Singer equality is not a factual idea but a moral idea.

Speciesism is discrimination,that is favoring the interest of one's own species,while exploiting the other weaker species,or, the exploitation and discrimination of other species for the sake of one's own species.

As racism and sexism is based on exploitation ,discrimination and oppression by the dominant group over the weaker group, similarly is speciesism.Human beings oppress,exploit and discriminate the meek animals for their selfish interests is morally wrong.
