What is a postive affect and negative affect when it come to PANAS (The positive and negative affect schedule scale)? So I'm in a research where I use STATISTICS to do a paired T-Test on Drug Negative Affect Vs Placebo Negative Affect as well as Drug Positive Affect vs Placebo Positive Affect (This is a state scale not a trait) . I'm not sure how you would distinguish between the positive and negative affect PANAS. So is this basically one survery which can be scored two different ways ?
PANAS is a psychometric five point scale that begins with (1) very slightly or not at all ,to extremely (5). This scale measures two moods positive and negative. This scale shows the relationship between positive and negative affect with statistics and traits. The items of this scale either measures the positive affect or the negative affect depending upon the response by the subjects and the assigned score for each response. Low PA ( Positive Affect) scores shows unhappiness, sadness ,lethargy etc, whereas,a high PA scores indicates vigour, happiness, full of energy etc.
