We have over 4500 students, from infant to adult, that require assistance in a variety of areas of disability.

We services students with a variety of disabilities:
1. Mild to Moderate

3. Autistic

5. Occupational Therapy Services
6. Orientation and Mobility Itinerant Services
Are you a part of the IFSP/IEP? If so, how? If not, why not?
When I was a site administrator, I played a more active role, being part of the IEP team. As an Assistant Superintendent, I supervise the Special Education department and work collaboratively with our Executive Director, providing support as needed.
What has been the most challenging in meeting the needs of the child(ren)?
I look at challenges, as a way to address any barriers that need to be addressed to ensure that all students are getting the support and services they need.
What kind of support do you have in trying to meet those needs?
I am fortunate to have a string Special Education department/team that work relentlessly to assist schools, teachers, support staff, and students.
What has been the most rewarding working with the child(ren)?
Every day is a reward, seeing the wonderful support and programs we offer that support all students, regardless of their disability.
Do you work closely with the family? How? Why or Why not?
I pride myself on being supportive with all families, especially when they reach out to me directly for support and assistance.
Do you believe inclusion works? How and why?
Yes, we need to remind general education staff that special education students are general education students, getting special education services. All students, regardless of their disability, are entitled to the same services and opportunities.
What are your hopes for the future of special education?
That services continue to focus on what is most beneficial for students. I am excited that the California Department of Education continues to make adjustments and changes that to have the potential to highlight the work that is still needed to provide the best educational opportunities for students.
What advice do you have for me about my future with working with children that have special needs?
Lead and work with humility, never losing the passion for making a difference in the life of students with needs.
