Explain the current standard of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and privacy rights?
Current standard of freedom of speech:
Article 19 of the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) states that "everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression (speech); this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice".
Current standard of freedom of religion: Article 18 of the ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) states that "Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This right shall include freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice."
Current standard of freedom of the press: The United Nations' 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference, and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media (press) regardless of frontiers".
Current standard of privacy rights: On December 18, 2013, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 68/167 on the right to privacy in the digital age. The resolution makes reference to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and reaffirms the fundamental and protected human right of privacy.
