If you had a friend who did not believe in his/her abilities to succeed in his or her job, what would you do to increase his or her self-efficacy? Why would you choose this method?

I will use “role modeling” to improve self-esteem in this case. It is important to make the person feel that the problem is not abnormal and quite common, even faced by the most successful people, it helps to build-up confidence. Observing the others performing the task who faced the same problem before make them people visualize themselves doing it successfully. However, the tasks must not be too difficult or different and the repeated failures must be avoided. Selecting a role model is most important, they must be personally liked by the individual observing them.
