Ethical egoism is it is normative theory. According to this theory each individual has single ultimate purpose that is welfare of self.

  • Normative theory of egoism ague that what an individual ought to do instead of telling what one does do. Ethical egoism says that it is important and required for an action that it should be morally right in order to maximize self-interest of an individual.

On the other hand,

Psychological egoism is descriptive theory.

  • Psychological egoism state that each individual consist one ultimate goal: his/her personal walefare. It does not consist any morality or ethical ideas in it.
