In the self discrepency theory our ideal person is the person we want to be,our ought self is what we want others want us to be our actual self does not align with our ideal self .We feel dissapointed when our actual self does not align with our ideal self.The different representations of the two can be contradictory and cause emotional disturbance at times.The thoughts of these discrepancies is not always positive,certain emotions create a negative attitude.perceptions and misperceptions of self and discrepancy between actual and ideal self can have consequences.
