In the Apology, what are the two charges against Socrates brought by Meletus at the trial? Provide an account of the arguments Socrates uses to defend himself against these charges.
The two charges brought against Socrates by Meletus at the trial are-
Asebia(Impiety) against pantheons of Athens and Corruption of the Youths of city state
The accusers cited two impious acts by Socrayes that is "failing to acknowledge the Gods that is acknowledged by the city" and "introducing new deities"
In the course of trial Socrates imitates, parodies, and corrects the Orators, his accusers and asks the jury to judge him by the truth of his statements and not by his oratory skills. Although Socrates provided with an opportunity to appease the prejudices of the jury, with a minimal concessions to the charges of corruption and impiety, Socrates does not yield his integrity to avoid the penalty of death. Accordingly the jury condemns Socrates to death.
